Most people know that on 15th August 1947 India got independence and a day before Pakistan. In fact almost the entire world was ruled by the European nations before India became independent. After our independence it set off a domino effect across the globe. We didn’t only end the British rule in India but the rule of France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium in continents of Asia, Africa, Australia. Unknowingly we changed the whole world order!
It is quite unfortunate that citizens of India do not value their country and freedom as much as they should and hence there is a constant dissatisfaction about the state of affairs. However, if we compare our country to the others who got their independence around the same time as India, our advance has been impressive. The progress we have made considering the problems that we have faced is stupendous. Out of the 50 countries that got independent, few countries have seen a steady GDP growth like India. The Compound Annual Growth Rate (say average growth) of the Global World Product (totalling of all GDP of the world) was 2.91% in 1940s and it before that also it was around that number only. Let us Indians be proud of the contribution we have made in changing the world for the larger good. Let us as a country acknowledge the fact that our actions affect the entire world and act more responsibly. For instance our CBSE board is accepted by 24 countries across the world. This would rightly make it an international board, however we have 46 other boards in the country. If we get united and focus on strengthening our educational system we can dominate the entire world without sending armies like the European nations did few centuries ago. Our innovations in making Banking, Insurance, Healthcare, Sanitation and Election process are being copied across the world. While in India we have little appreciation of the same.
Today on India’s Independence day, let us celebrate our contribution to the world and say I am a proud Indian !
